Independence day
activities this year were a blast, as always. Having a two year old is
so much fun, especially when the holidays come around. This is the first
year I've felt that Haden had a real understanding of what was going on
around him on Fourth of July. In our area, we actually do fireworks on
the 3rd. We spent that evening with friends having a BBQ and watching
the fireworks show over the bay at dusk. Haden's reaction to the
fireworks was priceless. He kept yelling "Firetrucks! Again, again!"
Apparently all of them were the color green, since he also insisted on
yelling that over and over at the top of his lungs each time they went
off. My apologies to our friendly lawn chair neighbor spectators. Sadie
Quinn fell asleep and stayed asleep during the whole show. Once the show
was over we all piled into our cars and headed home, where Haden
exclaimed with excitement "BED!" once we pulled into the driveway.
That's always a great thing to hear from a toddlers mouth.
The next day was the local parade. This will have been Haden's third year in attendance and Kellen's 21st consecutive parade (except one year for a family vacation). Needless to say, it has become a very cherished tradition in our family passed down from his parents. Once again, Haden did great during the parade, a somewhat unexpected yet pleasant surprise! He got to sit on Daddy's lap and I am told his favorite part was the firetrucks (yes, actual firetrucks this time). Sadie Quinn did her best to stay awake but ending up passing out and snuggling in Grandmas arms for most of it. She awoke just in time to catch the tail end, though!
Everyone
knows that Fourth of July in the Pacific Northwest means it is
officially summer! Here's to warm summer days and fun, beautiful
evenings ahead!
