I Wuff You

My baby boy. He cracks me up. While some kids attach themselves to loveys or blankets, mine attaches himself to his crib bumper. He loves that thing. Every night we lay him down and by the time we get out of the room, we can see him over the monitor petting it. Then eventually he tucks his head under it, and falls asleep. It's taken quite a bit of love over the past two years.

So of course when I went to wash it the other day, he saw me pull it out of the dryer and decided it needed to be dragged around the house. Pretty much he undid all the cleaning I did of it, but hey, what can you do? When your kid wants to drag a 10ft+ "blanky" around the house and snuggle with it in random places, you kind of just go with it. At least that's my perspective.

I secretly love when he cuddles up with his binky and "blanky." He becomes my little baby again. He is calm, a rare occurrence. Actually, he has become quite a fan of making a "bed" in random areas of the house. Of course it's just an excuse to use his binky (he only gets it in his crib normally). Not fooling me, kid.

I thought I'd snap some pics of him with his giant blanky before I stuck it back in his crib. I love these images because they just capture who he is- goofy and quirky but oh so endearing. He gets this far off distant look when he's thinking (pictured below) and then his eyes light up when he understands. He has just recently started actually cooperating when I ask him to "say cheese"--but still refuses to look at the camera when I ask. Stinker.

We had a little date night on Friday night to go see planes. As I sat there with this somewhat giant toddler in my lap, snacking on popcorn like it's going outta style, I had one of those sad, depressing mom moments. If you are a mom, you know them well. How long am I going to be able to go to a movie and have Haden sit on my lap? It's getting pretty darn cozy already. At 2.5!!
TEARS, PEOPLE!

When we got to the car, as I buckled him in, I said "I love you, Haden Carter." And he said "I wuff you, mama. Hug??"

Sigh. Trying my best to enjoy each day. Each moment. Why is this watching your kid grow up stuff so.darn.hard?!
