Dear New Momma of Two

Today my second baby turns 6 months old. I remember, not so long ago, those fuzzy days and nights where memories and moments ran together in a slew of high emotions. Extreme happiness and extreme exhaustion. Being so very overwhelmed, yet so very blessed in the very next moment. Being a momma to two children is hard (heck, being a parent is hard in general). So I wanted to take some time to encourage those who may just be embarking on the journey I did, six months ago.

Dear Nicole, New Momma of Two,

In just a few weeks, dear, sweet, tired momma, your little girl will return your smile and you will forget what it was like to have to nurse her for an entire hour long and how much it hurt when she latched. She will watch her big brother with wide eyes and their relationship will begin. Your heart will melt with every single sweet interaction.

You may feel like you will never leave the house again or that if you do, it will take at least 2 hours to be ready for it. This will not last forever. You will begin to find your rythum over time. Soon enough, you will begin to enjoy outings again.

You may be fearing your nighttime right now. She wakes up a lot. She's hard to settle down. Just take it one day at a time. You are strong and you are made for this. Soon enough, you will forget the problems you had with her at night. She will begin to learn when it is night time and you will sleep again. It will feel so good!

Now is a time that God will teach you humility. Never be afraid to ask. Others may not see how you are struggling, even if they are right there. Just ask. Surround yourself with those that support you and life will be a lot smoother

Rid yourself of guilt. Remember what you truly are- you do every thing you can to put them first. It's ok to give yourself a break- let him watch tv, take lots of naps, pass off responsibilities to anyone who will take them!

Cry when you need to. Life with two is hard, but you are not alone! Day by day, you will get there.

And six months later, you will have a happy, laughing, bouncy baby who you can't imagine life without.

Love,
Your Future Me
